Youth and Children
There are growing numbers of young people and their loved ones at St. Stephen's. Perhaps St. Stephen's might be the right nurturing community for your loved ones?
Youth News
Beginning in September, St. Stephen's church will be collaborating wtih St. Luke's church in youth work. We are planning a joint Youth Group; expect more updates about this during the summer. The Vestry has agreed to fund approximately a fifth of the salary costs of Janie Koch, who is a full time youth worker based at St. Luke's. She will be working with all of the Episcopal youth in Billings. She has written the following to introduce herself to St. Stephen's:
"Hello! I wanted to take this opportunity to share a little about myself. I am from Texas and recently moved to Montana. While the weather is significantly different from Texas, the terrain of Billings, as well as the down home spirit of the people are much like home for me, and I am enjoying my time here. The careers that life has allowed me to experience have been varied: ten years as a secondary English teacher, jewelry retail manager, supplemental education manager, insurance agent, and now youth minister. I am also currently working through the distance program for my Masters in Theology at Nashotah House Theological Seminary. While life can throw curve balls at times, I am thankful for God's presence, patience, and grace when I have so often needed it. I love working with youth as they too can throw us curve balls with their creativity, insightfulness, and humor. They truly are the church's future, and we should train and model the community of Christ for them and with them."
